Senior Portraits

Senior Photos mark that important stage in a person’s life as they make the transition from student to adult. Over the years, Rowland Studio has built the tools, techniques and experience to capture you in your best light. We work to make the overall portrait process as easy as possible! Numerous Seattle Schools have even selected Rowland Studio as the official school photographer since the 1950’s.

Casual or institutional, on location or in our studio on 69th street, let Rowland Photo bring your senior portraits to life.

A Note from Bruce

Senior pictures are fun! We have the time to be creative. Two or three changes of clothes allows more poses. We have a chance to talk about sports, theater, clubs, trips, even next year – college or jobs. A relaxed “photo shoot” with 30 to 40 shots, sometimes 50 or 60 shots if on location. Bring siblings, pets, props, and friends. While photographing seniors, I get a chance to get to know you, which is fun!

Tips for your Session

Think about color and pattern. Solids or subtle patterns are best. Color needs to work with skin tones and hair color. Sleeves for head shots beware of neckline. Half and full length, almost anything goes! What doesn’t – sitting poses with short shorts or short, short skirts.

Guys... What to wear?

  • First – all of you shows! Head to toe – Shoes or no shoes, top of head or hat.

  • Second - slacks and shirt for grandparents. Blue jeans and t-shirt or jersey for friends and family.

  • Third – Sports uniform or shorts and t-shirts.

  • Fourth - Bring props like bats, balls, rackets, helmets, clubs, cameras, robots, shoes, oars, trapeze, collections, musical instruments and more.

Girls... Choose only 3 outfits?

Tough choice, maybe 4?

  • First – kind of dressy, depends on your life style. Nice dress – consider the length and how your shoulders look.

  • Second – casual. Nice neck line – V-neck, round, scoop, straps or strapless. Skirt, pants, shorts, capris. Shoes, sandals, flip flops. Accessories – jewelry, necklace, bracelets, watches, etc.

  • Third – formal. Homecoming, Tolo, or prom dress. Half- and full-length poses. Bring a rose.

  • Fourth – Sports, dance, gymnastics, crew, theater, music, or ??? Poses of what you do for sport, fun, exercise, or just life.
