General Questions:

Are any prints or digitals included with my sitting fee?

In most cases, prints and digital copies are NOT included in the sitting fee. Exceptions include:

  • Passport Photos: Depending on the format required for your specific application, the fee for a passport photo include prints and/or a digital copy.
  • Headshots: Sitting fees for individual and employee headshots, whether in our studio or on location, include one final digital image with retouching. Additional digitals and a variety of prints can be purchased separately.
Can you do framing/mounting?

Yes! We have a large variety of framing and mounting options. Preview a sample here: (link to back of portrait price list).

What other kinds of photo products do you offer? (canvases, metal prints, standups, fine-art, products/gifts, cards, etc).

We have a vast array of photo products, gifts, and fine art options.

Individual Headshots:

What should I wear?

In most cases, you’ll want to dress professionally. Some businesses have specific requirements for what your headshot should look like, so we always recommend double-checking and passing those guidelines along when scheduling or at the start of your sitting. If you don’t have specific requirements set by your company, we suggest that you keep the following points in mind when selecting your outfit:

  • Background: You’ll want to make sure you stand out against your background. Wear darker colors if you’re wanting to use a white or light colored background, and vice versa.
  • Patterns: Busier patterns don’t always translate well if your photos will be appearing in smaller formats, like on a website or Linked In profile. We recommend wearing bold, solid colors.
  • Layers: While the studio does have a dressing area if you decide to bring multiple outfits, changing time does factor into your overall sitting. To achieve multiple looks without cutting into your camera time, we suggest bringing items you can layer for different looks. Think blazers, sweaters, vests, ties, and hair accessories.
What if I’m unhappy with my photo?

Throughout your sitting, you’ll have the opportunity to peek at your photos. If you’re not happy with the shots you’ve gotten at any point, mention it to your photographer and they’ll work with you to switch things up however you need.

Will my photo be retouched? What kind of editing can you do? What if I have a special request?

Yes! All headshot sessions include at least one final, retouched digital image. Retouching generally includes smoothing skin, reducing redness, removing blemishes, teeth whitening, stray hair removal, and glasses glare removal. We can accommodate special requests on a case-by-case basis, so don’t hesitate to ask during or after your photo session.

What kind of backgrounds do you offer in the studio?

We have a variety of solid colors, textured canvas, and printed scenes. We’re happy to try to match a background you like or even do a digital background swap if needed.

What will my image size and format be?

In general, final digital images are in JPEG format and are the full-size, high-resolution files, typically ranging in size from 1-5 MB. However, we can accommodate other formats and sizes. If you need your final image in a specific size or format, please let us know when scheduling or at the start of your sitting.

Business Team Photos:

What’s the process for photographing our employees?

First we’ll decide what background option you’d like to go with, either a backdrop we bring or a setting at your location. Then we’ll determine a timeline based on how many people you need photographed and their availability. On picture day, we’ll take multiple photos of each employee so that they can choose their favorite to use. We can set up for viewing during the shoot so those decisions can be made on-site, or we can email proofs to look over at a later date. Once we have those favorite image choices, we’ll edit and retouch them. Once the job is completed, we’ll send you an invoice and a folder with all final images to download.

How long should we schedule for each person to be photographed?

It usually takes about 5 minutes for each individual to be photographed. If we are doing different poses (i.e. a headshot and a half-length standing) or different backgrounds, it may take an extra 5-10 minutes. If we are set up to view photos on site, give a few extra minutes for each person.

My company has a specific look/guidelines to follow – can you accommodate?

Yes! Please send us any requirements when inquiring or scheduling. If we cannot accommodate your company’s guidelines, we’ll let you know.

Can you do photos of other things for my website, ads, brochures, etc? products, equipment, facilities, etc?

Yes! In addition to employee headshots, we can also photograph your facilities, offices, products, equipment, services, etc.

Can you photograph our company event?

Yes! We have multiple options for event photography, whether you’re looking to photograph an award ceremony, set up a headshot booth for attendees, or just want candids of the event and guests.

Other Portraits:

What happens with the pictures after our photo shoot?

After your portrait session, we’ll go through all of the images and edit them for proofing. The proofs will be uploaded to a secure site, and we’ll email you a link to view them at home. We’ll also send you a price list for prints, digital copies, canvases, and other products we offer. You can get back to us via email or phone to place an order. Then we’ll retouch and edit your photos and place the order with our professional lab. Once your order is back, quality checked, and packaged up, you can pick it up at the studio, we can ship it to you, or sometimes we’ll even deliver it to you if needed.

What locations can you go to?

There are only a few limitations on where we can go for your on-location portrait sitting. Some favorite spots of ours around Seattle are Gasworks Park, Golden Gardens, Kerry Park, and Greenlake, but we’re open to exploring new places if you have a spot you love. We can come to you at your home or in your backyard if that ends up being the best option, too.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes, absolutely! Pets are welcome in the studio to join in the photos. Be sure to let us know beforehand so we can have a bowl of water and some treats ready.

Sports Leagues

How does ordering work?

We can do ordering all online or have the option for prepay order fliers.

New Schools

How many days can you come for fall photos?

Fall yearbook picture days are usually 1-2 days set up in the school to photograph all staff and students. A couple of weeks later, we usually come back for at least one make-up/retake day.

Can you do class photos in the spring?

Sure! We can come out for a Spring photo day for individuals and/or class groups. We can add any kind of border, titling, logo, etc. that you’d like to the print designs. We usually offer a 5×7 or 8×10 print option for parents to order, but we can customize to the schools needs.

Can you do year-round sports and club photos?

Yes, we have many schools that we visit a few times a year. We can get photos of clubs, sports from each season, music groups, and anything else your school might need for the yearbook.

Can you do other events and graduations?

Yes, we can photograph dances, graduations, and any other special event you might have at your school.

General School Picture Day

When is make-up picture day? When is retake picture day?

Absentee makeup day is generally 1 or 2 weeks after the original picture day. For smaller schools, we may combine that with retakes, but larger schools may have a separate retake day scheduled in the following weeks. To check your school’s specific dates, search here.

Can any student come on make-up day?

Make-up day is intended only for staff and students who were absent on the original picture day.

Can any student come on retake day?

Retake day is intended for anyone that’s had a photo taken but would like a retry. Each school will determine how students are allowed to come to the camera for a retake photo. Some require a note from a parent, while others will allow anyone to come.

Ordering – Getting Started

How can I find my photos to order?

After school pictures, your student should bring home a card with a personal access code. Go to the “Login” page, enter the access code and click on “Open Album.” If you are having trouble locating your code, you can click here to lookup your student’s code.

How long does it take for photos to be available after picture day?

We aim to have photos online as quickly as possible, but it may take up to two weeks after picture day to have all photos processed and uploaded for families and students to view and order. While photos are still being processed, you can enter your student’s access code on the “Login” page and complete the registration form to be notified when photos are available.

I received an email with login information – what is this for?

After you have placed an order or registered with the online shop, you will receive an email with login credentials. Using your email and the new password, you can use the “Customer Login” to enter your personal gallery, order photos, and check the status of your orders.

Ordering

Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?

In most cases, no, orders cannot be adjusted once they’ve been placed. If you’re having trouble ordering, or think something in your cart doesn’t look right, we strongly encourage you to contact us before completing an order. We cannot be responsible for orders that have been placed incorrectly. While we’ll do our best to correct or cancel an order for you, most orders are sent directly to our lab and begin processing immediately after being placed, at which point we’re unable to make any changes to the order.

Is it possible to place a single order for multiple siblings?

Yes! Click on “Did you get another access code?” under the main menu “Login”. You can enter up to five access codes at the same time. This way you will have access to all available photos. You can combine the order and save on shipping costs.

Is the logo (watermark) going to be removed from the image?

Of course! The watermark is only used to protect our work against illegal downloads.

Where can I see the status of my order?

The easiest way is to click the link within your order confirmation email. Alternatively, you can log in with the password and email address you received via email. Once you’ve logged in, your order details can be found under “My Account.”

When will I receive my order?

This depends on the payment, the products you’ve ordered, and delivery method. Orders shipped to your address may take up to two weeks to arrive. Most digital downloads will be delivered via email within 24 hours of your order being placed. Orders that include retouching may be held for up to 10 business days while retouching is completed, depending on the time of year and our overall order volume.

Retouching

How do I order retouching?

We offer two levels of retouching and both can be added to your online order. When ordering retouching, you’re ordering the editing services only, so it’s important to make sure other items have been added to your cart before you check out.

Will everything in my order be retouched?

Yes, as long as retouching has been ordered for each image in the order, all items in the order will be retouched. Retouching does not have to be ordered for each item in your cart. If your order includes multiple prints or products of the same image, retouching only needs to be ordered one time for that image. If you’re ordering two different images, you’ll need to add retouching to your order twice.

Can my student’s photo be retouched in the yearbook?

In most cases, yes, as long as retouching has been ordered prior to the deadline to submit photos for your school’s yearbook. Once an image has been retouched, it replaces the original, unedited version of that photo in our system. Everything that image is used for moving forward will have the retouched version, including the yearbook. We’ll be sure to send out notifications as we get close to your school’s yearbook deadline.

My student selected their favorite photo for the yearbook, but I’d like to order a different photo. Can both be retouched?

Yes! Just make sure to add retouching for the yearbook photo before completing your order. The yearbook image will be retouched and replaced in our system before being submitted for the yearbook.
